Eco-friendly Decor for your Home

If you are enthusiastic about sustainability, this will inspire you to try out new decor for your home. Even if you are not that much of an enthusiast, I’m sure you will be excited by something that enhances green living. After all, I’m yet to meet someone who does not care that natural resources are getting depleted! I’m talking about eco-friendly decor in and around the home. It is possible to enjoy stylish decor in the home without harming the environment.
Let’s begin with the foyer and outdoor furniture. Think about getting willow twig furniture. Yes, it’s back! Furniture made from willow and birch bark looks really beautiful and makes for a stylish display on your front or back yard - a rocking chair, a recliner or an entire set of table and chairs. And you do not have to feel guilty about it because willow is a plant that sprouts and enjoys full growth after cutting.
Another area of your home where you can incorporate green living is in the bathroom. May be it’s time you finally got rid of those PVC shower curtains. They may look exquisite in their lively patterns and color but don’t let that deceive you. They are still synthetics. Perhaps remembering how many harmful compounds are released during their manufacture and the amount of energy used in the process as you struggle with letting go of the precious-looking items will make you finally make up your mind!
Replace them with fabric shower curtains that are beautifully tailored and finished. They absorb moisture very well keep it away and provide the privacy you need. You may have to sacrifice a little more on fabric shower curtains than you would for vinyl shower curtains but they are worth every penny you spend. They are a must have accessory and make your bathroom look great. Cotton is one of the best fabrics that you can choose from.
There are plenty of floor coverings centered on green living. They include bamboo rugs which look very classy and you can even get bamboo shag rugs. When buying rugs, buy those made from natural material such as wool, sisal, jute or sea-grass. They are comfortable and warm beneath the feet. They also add a cozy feel to the room. Most floorcloths are made from cotton canvas and have a non-slip rug pad made from vegetable extracts on the underside. They have a soy-based coating for protection and are available in a wide variety of designs and colors. They really look chic in the house, especially when their color and texture complements the color scheme.
Nowadays, there are hand crafted pillows that are comfortable and warm, made from all natural materials. Silk pillows, plain or decorated, are soft, warm and beautiful. Even with no trimmings on, they look exquisite. All sorts of patterns including plaid, floral and animal are available. Choose pillows that have poly or down feather fill on the inside. If you are good at sewing, consider making the pillows yourself and you can play around with your choice patterns.
