If you like using baskets in your home, you are not alone. More and more homeowners are figuring out the benefits of using baskets in their home for decor. People use baskets to save on space, for storage, and because they look great. Baskets come in many different colors, shapes, and sizes. The most fun room in the home to decorate with baskets would be the kitchen.
Adding Storage Space
Whether you have no drawers or your kitchen if full of them, you can add more space when you use baskets. You really can’t have too much storage space in your kitchen. If you have upper cabinets in your kitchen, you can place the baskets on the first shelf to make them accessible. Label the baskets accordingly so when you open the cabinet door you know what basket has what you are looking for.
Setting baskets on the counter is another way to organize your kitchen and get more storage space. Make or purchase the lining that goes into the basket, which can include your theme if you have one or just a color that coordinates. You can use the baskets to display fruit, keep your mail, and more.
If you have a baker’s rack or a bookshelf in the kitchen, you can neatly organize them by placing baskets on the shelves. This will free up your countertops and allow you to keep everything at a simple glance. Some examples to store in the baskets would be silverware, table napkins, coasters, snacks, drink packets, cookbooks, and more.
On top of the fridge usually gets cluttered with letters, books, cereal boxes, or appliances that do not always get used often. It is also a place that gathers dust. Place baskets on top of the fridge to neatly organize this space and use it more wisely. Remember, there is a place for everything.
If you want a country look, place three open shelves on your walls. Line them with a simple pattern; calico print or checked. Then place baskets on the shelf and create a family message center. Every person in your family can have a basket. Everyone is to check their baskets before they go to school and after dinner. This is a great way to keep notes current and signed for school and to place simple reminders in them so no one forgets another appointment.
