The Sweetheart Room, Right Down to the Heart Shaped Rugs

If you have a sweetheart who needs their very own room, whether it's your wife or your child, here are some ideas for ways to create the sweetest possible room just for her. A little creativity and lot's of pink is all it takes. You will have many choices, so do what you think she'll like best.

Options for pink walls are many. If you feel an entire makeover with pink paint will go beyond your budget, try red curtains at the windows or maybe a red light bulb in a fixture to create the illusion of pink on the walls. Red or dark pink curtains, during the day, will leave the walls looking a soft pink as the sun shines through them. A red light bulb in one fixture will also provide the illusion that the walls are pink. 

You can also invest in small rugs for the room whether or not it has wall to wall carpet. On hardwood flooring or on top of carpet, add some red rugs to the areas most traveled in the room. Another idea is to add pink heart shaped rugs to the walls. Adding rugs to the walls not only adds color it also helps to insulate the walls from outside noises.

The next step is to decide what your sweetheart will be doing in the room. If she is a young child you can pretty much expect that she will be playing with doll babies or Barbie dolls, so you will want to make provisions for that. If she is a teenager, she will likely want to have a place that she can entertain her friends, have sleep-overs with her girlfriends, she will want to play music, and possibly play on her computer or even, maybe, do homework. Make provisions for the functions for which the room will be used. If, perhaps, you are designing a special room for your wife or girlfriend you will want to be sure and add all of the things she loves. 

For furnishings, you can add a bed or a sofa, depending on the room's purpose. Either way you will probably want to have a coffee table, a bedside table and likely a desk. Here again, you'll need to know the room’s purpose before you can add furniture, so be sure you have a good grasp on this. Will you need linens for a bed? Maybe the room needs a comfy recliner and a small television? A floral print bedspread, comforter or upholstered chair may be in order. Make sure that everything you put in the room suits a purpose for the room's occupant. It must be something she will like; after all, you are setting this room up for her, right? Of course you will benefit from making her happy!

This is a very low budget action plan for creating the room of her dreams. From the red rugs on the floor to the heart shaped rugs on the walls she will love the effort you are putting into the room just for her.
